Christmas at Queen’s

Christmas at Queen’s

This year, we got our sh*t together a little bit too early and ended up having our Chrimbo bash on Wednesday 5th of December. Yes, a Wednesday.

Expectations:
We decided to adult our way through the celebrations & start drinking at the reasonable hour of 5:00pm, well after our working day had been completed. We then went out for dinner and got the tube home straight after.

Reality:
9:00am. Tequila slammer. Copious amounts of Prosecco at our local – The Swan.

Next up was a real meat feast (apologies to our token veggie CP) at Meat Liquor, Paddington.

We then teamed up and did a spot of bowling at Queen’s. It was soon apparent who the big dogs were when it came to handling balls. For others, the ramp was their only hope. The top three highest scorers then had a match of their own to reveal the champion bowler. Of course, this wasn’t a bowling competition at all though really, and more a competition of who could muster the biggest ego.

Ego-ing finished, we headed to Pergola on the Roof, only to find it was closed. On the bright, side we found ourselves surrounded by carollers, mince pies and mulled wine which in our jolly states was rather hilarious. When the venue opened we made our way in for rooftop drinks in the freezing cold, kept warm only by our beer jackets.

After Pergola, we headed to what can only be known as, ‘The Endz’. Ridley Road Market Bar in Dalston – think 70’s wood panelling, sticky black & white kitchen tiled floor and cracking 80’s jams. It was all of these things & more (once we’d hi-jacked the sound system, it was a Wednesday after all).

Until next year…
